Research and Investigation for The West Point Haunting podcast

My corporate background in market research, strategy and compliance has been really helpful finding out facts for The West Point Haunting podcast. I’ll be telling my own haunted West Point stories and other unpublished ghostly encounters at USMA via a series of interviews on the podcast. The investigation has been a ton of work- it’s been over a year at this point of gathering my sources. I’ve been blown away by the collaboration with authors, reporters, Reddit subs, USMA staff, alumni, podcasters, mediums, etc. I look forward to thanking each of every person who I have contacted. Seriously, if you’re out there and reading this, THANK YOU. It’s been an incredibly moving and positive experience.

I mentioned I’ll be visiting USMA Archives and Special Collections in early May. The staff has been incredible at helping me research everything from geography of West Point housing areas over the years, floor plans of quarters that are part of National Archives, and more details related to 1970s USMA campus and on-goings. If you have any suggestions of where I could find out more about the background of Lee Housing area, please reach out to me.

One of the most interesting parts of making this podcast was realizing that 1972 West Point had a ton of media attention due to haunting and paranormal activity and of course Ed and Lorraine Warren of The Conjuring Universe. It’s been fun to connect that to my Dad’s time as a cadet. I’ve purchased 1970s West Point artifacts for original content to add to my other research that I look forward to sharing with you. I’m also diving into things my Dad kept over the years. And don’t forget I have a bunch of random related keepsakes in a memory box of my own. While I was growing up at West Point from age 13-18, I was a little pack-rat and it’s all starting to come together why. It’s like a time warp, seeing old photos of me with friends and family out and around USMA campus*.

****Speaking of, I wonder if West Point Middle School at USMA still has the class of 1992’s 8th grade time capsule? Our history teacher, Mr. Sherman, was running that project…

Stay tuned and don’t forget to share your own haunted West Point story with me via this form or via email!
